Do you know a legendary Bison who made a lasting impact on Howard University Athletics? Now’s your chance to make sure their legacy is honored.

Nominations for the 2026 Hall of Fame Class are open from December 1, 2024, through April 30, 2026.

🔷 Who Can Nominate or Be Nominated?

All nominators and nominees must be active members of Bison Express. Join or renew your membership by donating $100 to the Bison Express Annual Fund at bisonexpress.org. Click the red “Support Bison Express” tab to give online.

🏅 Categories & Criteria

📌 Student-Athletes

Eligible if:

• Final collegiate athletic competition was completed at least 10 years ago (prior to 2016)

• Maintains good character and represents the values of the Howard University community

Should meet at least one of the following:

• Set a school and/or conference record

• Earned conference, regional, or national honors

• Competed in world-class amateur events

• Served as a team leader

  
  

📌 Teams

Eligible if:

• Final collegiate athletic competition was completed at least 10 years ago

Must meet one or more of the following:

• Won a conference championship

• Achieved national ranking or recognition

• Had an undefeated season

• Set significant school records

• Received post-season invitations

  
  

📌 Coaches & Administrators

Eligible if:

• Retired, deceased, or resigned from Howard University at least 5 years ago

Must demonstrate:

• Strong, ongoing support for HU Athletics

• Conference honors or recognition

• Coached championship-level or highly decorated teams

• Exemplified sportsmanship, integrity, and Bison pride throughout their career

  
  

📌 Buffalo Soldier Award

For individuals who have shown longstanding dedication and support to Howard University Athletics, on or off the field.

• Open to athletes and non-athletes

• May not qualify under other categories but have provided exceptional service

• Special consideration for significant financial contributions over time

• Self-nominations are encouraged!

• Multiple nominations are welcomed.

• Nominators must provide all supporting documentation—the selection committee will only consider submitted materials.
