Tracy White

Tracy White’s story is one of hard work, sacrifice, leadership, and excellence. Never one to seek the spotlight, White earned respect through his performance, determination, and consistency every time he stepped onto the football field.
A standout linebacker at Howard University, White was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Year in both 2000 and 2001. He started all 44 games of his collegiate career, recorded 100 tackles in three of his four seasons, and led the Bison in tackles every year. By the end of his Howard career, White had established himself as the University’s all-time leading tackler with an impressive 500 career tackles.
His accomplishments also included three First Team All-MEAC selections, the 2001 Black College Defensive Player of the Year honor, and recognition as both an NCAA Division I-AA All-American and Black College All-American.
Following his remarkable career at Howard, White took his talents to the NFL. He began his professional career with the Seattle Seahawks and went on to spend more than a decade in the league, playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, and New England Patriots. During his time with New England, White achieved one of football’s greatest milestones when he took the field as a starting linebacker in the Super Bowl.
Today, White’s impact extends far beyond football. He is a devoted husband to Shamika White, a proud father of four, a loving grandfather, and a mentor committed to helping develop the next generation. He continues to share his football knowledge with young athletes, including his sons, Togan White and Major White, helping prepare tomorrow’s leaders and champions.
A native of St. Stephen, South Carolina, White has collected a few memorable nicknames along the way. At Howard, he was known as “Quiet Storm.” To his late father, he was “Hollywood.” And across North Carolina, many simply know him as “Legend.”
From record-setting performances at Howard University to more than a decade in the NFL and a continued commitment to mentorship, Tracy White’s journey embodies the perseverance, leadership, and excellence of a true Howard Bison.
