2007 MEAC Softball Championship Team 

The 2007 Howard University Women’s Softball Team stands as a pillar of program history, defined by its landmark achievement as the first team in school history to capture a MEAC Tournament Championship. Guided by MEAC Outstanding Coach Tonja Braxton, the Lady Bison finished the season with an impressive 35–21 record and secured the program’s inaugural NCAA Division I Tournament appearance. The team’s dominance was etched into the record books with a .326 batting average and a conference-best 106 doubles, proving they were a powerhouse of offensive depth and competitive consistency.

Beyond their on-field accolades, the 2007 squad exemplified the true spirit of the student-athlete through a balanced commitment to academic and athletic excellence. The roster featured standout individual performances, including MEAC Rookie of the Year and Tournament MVP Courtney Young, alongside nine MEAC All-Academic Team selections. This team’s legacy is cemented by its lasting impact on Howard University Athletics, having set the standard for championship success and produced Hall of Fame inductees such as Courtney Young and Dale McNeal.
