Lafayette “Jack” Jackson

"Lafayette “Jack” Jackson, BS’66, MS’68, is a 1961 graduate of PS DuPont High School in Wilmington, Delaware. He excelled athletically and academically during his high school days. In high school he dominated Delaware interscholastic springboard diving with three record setting, undefeated years as the #1 high school diver in the state. He also excelled in YMCA and AAU competitive diving competitions at the local and national levels. 

Outside of springboard diving, Jack achieved recognition as an AAU and interscholastic champion gymnasts, high jumper and sprinter. 
Jack was an exceptional high school leader with distinction as president of his predominately white high school class, runner-up Delaware State Teenager of the Year, sports editor of the school newspaper and voted “Most likely to Succeed” by his classmates. 
Before transferring to “The Mecca” in 1962, Jack dominated freshman diving at Syracuse University. After transferring to “The Mecca” he dominated CIAA and non-conference diving going undefeated in 1964, 1965 and 1966 with record-setting one and three meter performances. 

Away from athletics, Jack’s academic excellence and leadership were ever-present. He was a  Campus Pal, a Howard University Fellow, a Ford Foundation Fellow, President of the Psychology Department Honor Society, Psychology Department Teaching Assistant, Homecoming Steering Committee and Vice  Polemarch, Xi Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. 

After graduating, Jack was a psychologist with the Peace Corps. He later became Director of the Peace Corps Office of Minority Affairs; Executive Director, Delaware State Human Relations Commission; Johnson & Johnson Region Manager; President, Ethnic Marketing Services Inc; and President, Jackson Real Estate Development, LLC..

Today, Jack is retired and resides in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina with his wife Theda. They spend their time kayaking, golfing, fishing and enjoying cultures, music and museums worldwide. "
