Jason Decuir

Baton Rouge native Jason DeCuir arrived at Howard University in 1993 after a standout athletic career at Catholic High School, where he excelled in both football and soccer. Highly recruited in both sports, he helped lead Catholic High to three state soccer championships and was recently inducted into the Catholic High Grizzly Greats Hall of Fame.

At Howard, DeCuir established himself as one of the greatest kickers in program history. A four-year starter, he played a pivotal role on two Black College National Championship teams (1993 and 1996), delivering game-winning field goals in both his freshman season's Gateway Classic and the 1996 Heritage Bowl to secure Howard's second national championship during his career. He earned All-MEAC honors his junior and senior season, named the 1996 Ernie Davis Award recipient, MVP of the 1996 Howard football team and a Coca-Cola Academic All-American. After 30 years, DeCuir still holds virtually every Howard place-kicking record.

Following graduation from Howard, DeCuir earned an MBA from Louisiana Tech University, a J.D. and B.C.L. from LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and an L.L.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. Today, he is Owner of Advantous Consulting and Founding Partner of Advantous Law and is widely recognized as one of the nation's leading authorities on state and local taxation and tax policy, advising businesses and policymakers nationwide.

Above all, Jason is most proud of his two sons, Jason Jr. and Jackson. Jason Jr. is a highly recruited high school baseball pitcher, and Jackson is following in his older brother's footsteps. Their accomplishments remain his greatest source of pride.
