James Moses

James Moses is a former Howard University standout defensive back and safety whose leadership, athletic excellence, and commitment to service have defined his legacy. A native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, he lettered three years in football, earned Honorable Mention All-MEAC honors, received the Golden Helmet Award, and helped lead Howard to MEAC and Black College National Championship success. In 1990, he signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears before transitioning into coaching. He served on the coaching staffs at South Carolina State University under legendary Coach Willie Jeffries, Delaware State University under Coach Ben Blacknall, and Howard University under Coaches Ray Petty, Carrie Bailey, and Steve Wilson.

A lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., James exemplifies the fraternity’s principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift through decades of community service. As head volunteer coach of the D.C. Starz Youth Football Team, he mentored more than 150 young athletes while developing a character-building curriculum focused on academics, conflict resolution, and life skills. Through coaching, mentorship, and community service, James continues to inspire and empower youth throughout the Washington, D.C. region.
