Ericka (Rockwood) Sidbury

Ericka Sidbury is a proud native of Las Vegas, Nevada, and a 1993 graduate of Cheyenne High School, where she established herself as one of the school's premier volleyball players. During her senior year, she earned selection to the 1992 Class AAA Southern Conference All-Star Team and the 1992 All-Sunset Division Team, honors that reflected her outstanding talent, leadership, and dedication to the game. In 2024, she was inducted into the Cheyenne High School Athletic Hall of Fame as an athlete, making the occasion even more special as she was inducted alongside her mother, who was honored as a Hall of Fame coach.

Following high school, Ericka continued her athletic career at Howard University, where she became an accomplished volleyball player. She helped lead Howard to the 1993 and 1994 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championships and was named to the 1993–1994 All-MEAC Second Team. Her outstanding performances also earned her MEAC Player of the Week honors in both 1993 and 1994.

Ericka's impact on the Howard volleyball program remains unmatched. She became just one of only two Lady Bison in school history to record both 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs, a testament to her excellence as both an offensive and defensive player. In recognition of her remarkable career, the 1994 Howard University Women's Volleyball Team was inducted into the Howard University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016. The following year, Howard retired Ericka's No. 6 jersey, forever honoring her legacy and contributions to the program.
While her athletic achievements are extraordinary, Ericka's greatest impact has come through serving others. For the past 26 years, she has dedicated her career to education as both a high school mathematics and English teacher, inspiring and mentoring countless students inside and outside the classroom. She also devoted 20 years to coaching high school and club volleyball, helping develop young athletes while teaching the values of discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.

Ericka's passion for developing the next generation extends beyond her classroom and the volleyball court. She is the proud mother of a 17-year-old son, an accomplished basketball player who is pursuing his dream of competing at the collegiate level. Supporting his journey has become one of her greatest joys and reflects the same commitment to excellence and character that has defined her own life.

Whether as an elite athlete, educator, coach, mentor, or mother, Ericka Sidbury has consistently exemplified excellence, perseverance, and service. Her accomplishments have left an enduring legacy at Cheyenne High School, Howard University, and in the lives of the many students and athletes she has inspired. Her Hall of Fame recognition is a fitting tribute to a lifetime dedicated to achievement, leadership, and giving back to others.
