Chris Bullock

 

Christopher quickly gained recognition as a promising young football coach when he led the Calvin Coolidge High School football program in Washington, D.C., during the early 1980s. Competing in the highly competitive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA), he established a reputation for discipline, preparation, and player development.

His coaching reputation was shaped by several defining elements:

• Peer Respect — Legendary D.C. high school coaches, including Bob Headen of H.D. Woodson, publicly praised Christopher’s work ethic and leadership.

• All‑Star Selection — In 1983, he was selected to coach the West All‑Stars in the prestigious 15th Annual D.C. All‑Star Game at RFK Stadium. After playing in the All‑Star Game himself in 1973, he became the first DCIAA athlete to return as a coach and win the event — a rare and distinguished honor.

• Player Advocacy — Christopher was known as a thoughtful strategist who encouraged young Black athletes to explore non‑traditional, highly disciplined positions — such as place‑kicking — to broaden their opportunities and strengthen their long‑term football prospects.

Christopher has remained a loyal and dedicated supporter of Howard University’s academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs. For more than a decade, he has generously contributed his time, mentorship, and financial support as a member of the Bison Express Board of Directors, continuing to uplift student‑athletes and strengthen the Howard community.
